7 Simple Steps to a Fabulously Frugal Tomato Cream Sauce

by Anna on August 27, 2008

Yum, yum, yum! I absolutely adore tomato cream sauce, and it’s a great frugal recipe to have in your arsenal. I’ll show you in seven quick and easy steps how to make this delicious sauce. It’s absolutely wonderful with seafood and pasta, but can be used for much more!

  1. Begin by chopping a small onion, making a fine dice.
  2. Next, mince two cloves of garlic.
  3. Heat two tablespoons of butter and two tablespoons of olive oil in a skillet.
  4. Add the garlic and onion, stirring occasionally.
  5. Pour a glass of dry white wine into the skillet. Let the wine evaporate for a few minutes. (If you don’t want to use wine, low-sodium chicken broth will work just fine).
  6. Now add an 8 oz. can of tomato sauce, stir together well.
  7. Add in one cup of heavy whipping cream. Stir together.

How easy was that? If you would like to add fresh herbs, that would be fantastic as well. I like to use basil and parsley. Salt and pepper can be added to taste as well.

Now go make some deliciously tomato cream sauce and pour it over your favorite pasta!
