Overseas Coupon Program

Do you buy the paper every Sunday, diligently cut and store your coupons, plan your shopping trips to get the most value out of your purchases, but never seem to be able to use up all your coupons? What do you do with them once they’ve expired? Do you simply toss them in the garbage? Do you leave them in your coupon notebook? Would you like to be able to do something with them? I have a solution for you! It’s called the “Overseas Coupon Program” and it’s for military families. Let me explain.

What exactly is the “Overseas Coupon Program?“

The program serves military families by assisting you to forward “manufacturer’s coupons” to overseas military bases. These bundles of coupons are placed on tables, at the PX and Commissary, or handed out for use by military members and families on base. This helps the family save valuable dollars and stretch their budget.

This is not a tax deductible charity. This is a patriotic charity. You are supporting the service person and their family by sending coupons that you do not use, and all of the extra ones that you can find, to them. The service pay rates are no longer below the poverty level, but they are in no way great when you have a family. They appreciate your assistance.

Are you a candidate to donate?

  • Donation size? There is no minimum. You’ll find that those pesky little pieces of paper add up fast! The average Sunday newspaper contains approximately $125 worth of coupons. Even the smallest donation, when combined with the donations of other individuals, will make a difference in the lives of many military families serving our country overseas.
  • Expired Coupons? 2 Months Max! Yes, expired coupons are accepted. It’s recommended not sending any coupons older than 2 months expired on the date of shipment. They can use them for a couple of months after that but remember that the volunteers at the base must process the coupons once they arrive and get them out to be used. There also needs to be enough time for them to have the families sort through them and find the ones they want for use.
  • Do I need an organization? No. You may sign up as an organization/family or as a individual. If a group of friend is signing up then please create a name for yourselves and sign up as a group.
  • Do I have to adopt a base? Adopting a base is simply the easiest way to support the program. Most individuals and Organizations prefer the stability of having an adopted base. No, you do not have to adopt a base. You may mail the coupons to an “open” base by checking the list each time to see who is open. The adoption process is simply a way to list your choice at the web site.

The following is a list of all American military bases overseas which currently participate in the OCP and their addresses, their service affiliation, availability for adoption, and those donors who have adopted the bases.

The Adoption process is now self-service. When you select a base for adoption please email the following information to adoptions@ocpnet.org:

  • Your Name (To avoid confusion please check the lists of donors to insure the name you choose is unique)
  • Your Mailing Address
  • Your E-mail Address
  • Your Phone Number
  • Any organization you may represent
  • The name (NOT address) of the base being adopted [ example: Alconbury, U.K. ]

    I was just wondering if there are any other NON-military places to send expired coupons to as well. Such as shelters, SPCA’s, etc?
